Met Gala ~ Rei Kawakubo Comme des Garçons

The Met Gala is a night of fashion, philanthropy, and beauty. The red carpet was filled with exceptional designs, stepping outside the box, and meeting a few friends. The yearly event is held the first Monday in May. The gala's theme this year is Comme des Garçons honoring Rei Kawakubo.

Rihanna hit the red carpet wearing Comme des Garçons fall winter 2016 collection. This gown is three dimensional floral print. She wore Dsquared2 lace up sandals, Dvani and Le Vain jewels, and tourmaline and black diamond earrings from her “Rihanna Loves Chopard." Her hair was in a top bun with long bans and neon blush. Rihanna kept up her reputation on the Met Gala red carpet, while staying true to the theme for the evening.

Nicki Minaj hit the red carpet honoring iconic designer wearing a belt with Rei Kawakubo's face on the front. Her kimono gown by H&M has thigh and cleavage for a beautiful sexy look, Versace black platform shoes. Her jewels are an exceptional finishing avant garde touch. The snake ring by Lydia Courteille was an eye catcher. She completed the look with red lips and fingernails. The gown graced the long staircase with beautiful black roses and red beaded flowing train. What a grand entrance. 


The evening continued with great entrances by many celebrities. Katy Perry, co-hosting the evening event, wore Maison Margiela's original. Families made their appearance on the red carpet. Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain, mother and daughter, truly enjoyed the event together. The Olsen Twins grace the red carpet in an rare public appearance. Their style for the evening early 1900s bohemian look a shift from the Met Gala theme.
This was the first time since 1983 the evening honored a living designer. Comme des Garcons, founded and designed by Rei Kawakubo, are displaying at The Metropolitan Museum in New York through the fall. This fashion label is a Japanese fashion label meaning "like boys" in French. Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, the chairwoman of the Met Gala. She has transformed this event from local to a powerful celebrity philanthropic evening.  The night lived up to all the expectations.

Bermudez wore Nicole Bakti fall winter 2016 collection style "Nikole Bakti". The gown is a soft pink a feel of romance with a mermaid cut, this is a perfect gown for Bermudez. This was a sexy feminine look. The gown has a peek-a-boo shoulder with added flair.  The earring and rings adding sex appeal to the styling is Michael Kors. The jewels continue with the romance and glamour perfect for the Oscars® red carpet, ceremony, and after parties. 
Viola Davis, Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role,at the Oscars® states, "the art of acting best, The stories of the people who dreamed big and never saw those dreams to fruition. People who fell in love and lost." We watch the beauty of art, fashion, and talent on this night. The night starts with the red carpet where film, fashion, and friends meet.
The red carpet a location to celebrate, greet old friends, and make a few new friends. The beauty on the red carpet is not just from the fashion, but hard work and dedication of many.

Grammys Live Television Bringing The Best

The Grammys a night filled with entertainment from red carpet through the entire show. Live television brings many interesting performances and red carpet moments.

The red carpet filled with the top in the music industry. Adele starts the night off on the red carpet in an emerald green rhinestone embellished Givenchy gown and a lemon shaped pin.
She was royalty at the Grammys winning all the categories she had nomination. She ended the evening with a broken Grammy; Elmer's Glue may be of assistance.

The big talk of the red carpet is the "Trump Dress" designed by Andre SorianoJoy Villa  states on Twitter, "I Wore Trump Grammys Dress to Fight 'Suppressive' Hollywood." It did bring conversation that carried from the red carpet to talk shows days later.
Soriano is known for his red carpet looks from glamorous to controversy. He states on Facebook, "I created the Trump Gown to END Hatred and Hostility, "Choose Love, And Stand Tall."

James Corden, host for the evening, started the night off with a great performance of mistakes. He regained control with a rap where he states, "Let's save it at all costs." The live show had various hick-ups in the evening, but each performer took each moment in stride. Adele started her tribute to George Michael to stop in the middle and start again. Metallica's performance, "Moth into Flame" with Lady Gaga had serious microphone issues for James Hetfield. He saves the performance by sharing the microphone with Lady Gaga. Hetfield a constant professional whom over the years has learned to saved it at all costs.

Beyonce gave a performance of a lifetime. She dressed in monochromatic gold. She was a golden goddess as she carries twins. Her performance included, Love Drought” and “Sand Castles”, from her Lemonade album. She received two Grammys for the evening.

Bruno Mars takes the stage at the Grammys wearing a glittery purple jacket to memorialize Prince. This was just the first moment performance about Prince viewers knew it was going to be a performance of a lifetime. "Jungle Love" performed with The Time, really kicked the performance off. His guitar riff left viewers with great memories of Prince, but an appreciation for the talent Bruno Mars brings to the industry.
